Peach Mint Julep

Ingredients for the Simple Syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh mint leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • zest of one lemon
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
Directions
  1. Bring the water, sugar, and lemon zest to the boil and boil until the sugar is dissolved. 
  2. Remove from heat. Add the mint leaves, cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the simple syrup into a large mason jar or a bottle and add the fresh lemon juice.
  4. Refrigerate for up to one month.
Mint Julep Ingredients
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 ounce peach schnapps
  • 1 cup cubed fresh or frozen peaches
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • crushed ice
Directions
  1. Lightly muddle the peach and mint in a cocktail shaker
  2. Add the schnapps and bourbon and shake well
  3. Fill a glass with crushed ice and pour the mixture from the shaker over top. Garnish with another fresh mint leaf.
