Peach Mint Julep
Ingredients for the Simple Syrup
- 1 1/2 cups fresh mint leaves
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- zest of one lemon
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
Directions
- Bring the water, sugar, and lemon zest to the boil and boil until the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat. Add the mint leaves, cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
- Strain the simple syrup into a large mason jar or a bottle and add the fresh lemon juice.
- Refrigerate for up to one month.
Mint Julep Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce peach schnapps
- 1 cup cubed fresh or frozen peaches
- 6-8 fresh mint leaves
- crushed ice
Directions
- Lightly muddle the peach and mint in a cocktail shaker
- Add the schnapps and bourbon and shake well
- Fill a glass with crushed ice and pour the mixture from the shaker over top. Garnish with another fresh mint leaf.
