Slowcooker Ham and Lentil Stew
Ingredients
- 2 1/3 cups dried lentils
- 1 1/2 cups chopped carrots
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 ham bone
- 4 cups cubed ham
- 7 cups water
- 28 oz. can diced or whole tomatoes, cut up
Directions
- Place lentils in the crock pot. Add carrots, onion, celery, mushrooms, diced ham and parsley. Stir in salt, marjoram, pepper, and bay leaf.
- Add tomatoes and place ham bone on top.
- Add 7 cups of water. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 9-11 hours. Lift ham bone from soup. Remove meat from the bone and return the meat to the soup. Discard bone. Season with salt to taste and remove bay leaf before serving.
